Filipino standout Jimmy “The Silencer” Yabo is relying heavily on his mixed martial arts experience as he heads to another challenging assignment under the ONE Championship banner.
The former Philippine National Taekwondo Champion is scheduled to square off with Indonesian debutant Zach “God’s Warrior” Zane on the undercard of ONE: WARRIOR’S DREAM, which takes place at the Stadium Istora in Jakarta, Indonesia on Saturday, 17 November.
This will be Yabo’s first bout this 2018, and despite being on the sidelines for almost a year, the 37-year-old Cebu City native remains optimistic that he still has what it takes to get an impressive win inside the cage.
“I’ve been competing for almost a decade. My edge coming into this fight is my experience. I have fought different caliber of opponents throughout my career. I’m flying to Jakarta with one objective, and that’s to win,” he expressed.
Part of the growing ONE Championship roster since 2015, Yabo’s most thrilling victory happened when he knocked out Bashir Ahmad of Pakistan in just 21 seconds with a right cross in February 2016 at ONE: TRIBE OF WARRIORS.
On the other hand, Zane is a Faith MMA expert who holds a win-loss slate of 10-7 and will be making his promotional debut in ONE Championship on Saturday.
The 28-year-old former MFC Featherweight Champion is a wizard on the mat as seven of his ten career wins have come by way of submission.
Riding high on a six-match winning streak, Zane is expected to bring his A-game against Yabo as he eyes to make a huge impact in the promotion’s 70.3-kilogram weight class.
Despite his opponent’s outstanding credentials, Yabo believes that he is more than capable to have his hand raised in triumph when they collide at ONE: WARRIOR’S DREAM.
“I know this is a tough assignment, but I do believe in my capabilities. This is the kind of challenge I’m looking forward to. I have faced a lot of outstanding opponents in the past, and I know I can handle them,” he ended.
