EVERYONE gets excited about secrets. When we learn that a friend holds a secret, we always want to be part of the circle who knows the secret and when we don’t, we often feel kind of left out. Do you also feel that way about secrets?
This is why I want to let you in on a secret! Secrets that will help inspire and motivate you to work on your dreams. I am talking about my book, Secrets of the Rich and Successful. I talked about the secrets in details, so if you want to learn about them, I encourage you to get a copy and be stirred up!
For now, let me give you just a glimpse of the secrets I shared in my book. Secret No. 1 talks about knowledge. What is the role of knowledge in achieving success? This is the question that we will answer.
Apart from the common quote about knowledge that says “Knowledge is Power,” there are so many other things that knowledge is, especially in relation to success.
Here are four other roles that knowledge play in achieving success:
- Knowledge is the DIFFERENTIATOR
To be different from your competition, one needs to be very knowledgeable about what he is doing. Do you find yourself following someone who seems to have a little know-how about the thing being discussed? I can’t even imagine.
Let’s contrast two businessmen: Businessman A has undergone training and is now equipped with knowledge about strategies of running the business while businessman B has never attended training seminars nor read books about the business. Who do you think is a better facilitator among the two?
No-brainer, right? Of course it’s Businessman A! Knowledge empowers us to become different in the market.
- Knowledge is the STIMULATOR
I remember when I was in primary school, when the teacher throws a question to the class to which I know the answer, I confidently raise my hand as high as I could to volunteer in answering the question. On the flip side, when the teacher asks about something I have no idea about, I find myself avoiding eye-contact with her just so she wouldn’t call my name! Can you relate to my experience?
When we are equipped with knowledge, we become confident and we begin to stimulate the environment because of that confidence. The same is true with achieving success, the more knowledgeable we become, the more likely we’ll stimulate the circumstances we are in. We stimulate our staff to generate more sales, we stimulate our colleagues to bring in fresh ideas.
- Knowledge is the INNOVATOR
Knowledge allows people to continually improve and think of new ways, process, and ideas. In business, for instance, businessmen who are very knowledgeable about the business are able to tweak their way into achieving the business goals.
If a marketing strategy does not work, a person equipped with knowledge is able to innovate. He is confident to introduce something new because of the good knowledge that he has about what he is ushering in.
- Knowledge is the GENERATOR
A marketing manager studies the market and knows which strategies can work for a certain target market. It is with this knowledge that the manager is able to generate effective ideas that will translate to sales. Knowledge enables us to craft, fashion, and create ideas that will ultimately address a certain need, leading to the achievement of success.
Whether or not you’re looking at generating ideas, strategies, or money, knowledge is the thing that fuels the generation.
THINK. REFLECT. APPLY.
Why is it important to acquire knowledge if we want to be successful? What have you noticed about successful people today? What practices do they do that speak about their hunger for more knowledge?
