Game Today
(Mall of Asia Arena)
2 p.m. – LSGH vs Mapua (Jrs)
La Salle Greenhills and Mapua dispute the NCAA juniors basketball title today at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.
Game is at 2 p.m. with the defending champion Greenies seeking back-to-back crowns and the Red Robins avoiding the same fate that befell them last season.
Momentum is now on Mapua after extending their best-of-three affair with an 85-76 Game 2 triumph on Tuesday. LSGH won in last week’s Game 1, 74-69.
The Red Robins want to make sure that history won’t repeat itself as they face a familiar scenario. Last year, they also won Game 2 after succumbing in Game 1, only to lose by a point in the thrilling deciding Game 3.
“We learned from that experience and we’re hoping to produce a different outcome this time,” said Mapua coach Randy Alcantara, adding that their efforts in Game 2 where they pushed hard without injured main man Clint Escamis will be their inspiration.
Though they are coming off a victory, Alcantara knows that knockout matches put both squads back to square one.
With Escamis still out with a knee injury, Alcantara casts his eyes on Paolo Hernandez, Jonnel Policarpio and Dan Arches to be in front of their attack.
