The Manila Stars zoomed to their fourth straight victory with a 76-71 triumph over the Quezon City Capitals on Wednesday in the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League Datu Cup at the JCSGO gym in Cubao.
Chris Bitoon was three assists shy of completing a rare triple-double after erupting for a career-high 26 points spiked by four triples and grabbing 11 rebounds.
The win enabled the Stars to notch their 12th win in 14 matches.
Reil Cervantes exploded for 25 points and nine boards even as Kyles Lao chipped in 13 points to push the Stars half a game closer to the pacesetters Bataan Risers.
Jomar Santos had 18 points and 10 rebounds while Peejay Barua added 19 points to pace the Capitals.
Meanwhile, the GenSan Warriors rose from a recent stumble and bested the Rizal Crusaders, 65-58.
Leomer Losentes pumped in 26 points for the Warriors, who improved to 6-7. The Crusaders fell to 4-11.
