The Commission on Elections on Monday released the tentative list of party-list and local candidates for the May 2019 midterm polls.
The list of candidates for party-lists, governors, vice governors, provincial board members, mayors, vice mayors, and councilors have been posted at the poll body website (http://www.comelec.gov.ph/?r=2019NLE/ListsOfCandidates).
“The tentative list of candidates will be posted for purposes of checking the name to appear on the official ballot,” the poll body said in Resolution No. 10420.
“Aspirants are encouraged to check their names to appear on the official ballots,” the Comelec added.
Included in the list of party-list candidates are 124 duly-registered groups, 33 with pending motions for reconsideration, five with pending petitions for registration, and 23 others.
Known party-lists in the tentative list are Abono, Butil, PBA, Senior Citizens, Acts-OFW, Gabriela, Magdalo, Akbayan, Bayan Muna, TUCP, Ako Bicol, CIBAC, Buhay, and LPGMA.
The list was released more than a month since the end of the filing period for Certificates of Candidacy and Certificates of Nomination and Acceptance.
The Comelec said they will accept request for corrections on the name to appear on the official ballots until Nov. 29. No request for correction shall be entertained after that date, it said.
The poll body has yet to post the tentative list for senators.
The Comelec is looking to come out with the final list of candidates this December. The poll body is looking to start printing the official ballots in January 2019. (Leslie Ann G. Aquino and PNA)
