PetroGazz kept its semifinal hopes alive after besting Ateneo-Motolite, 19-25, 25-21, 25-21, 25-23, on Saturday in the Premier Volleyball League Open Conference at The Arena in San Juan City.
It was the seventh win in 12 matches for the Angels, who needed to win their ongoing match against Adamson-Akari to complete the semifinal cast.
Maricar Baloaloa spearheaded PetroGazz by firing 10 kills to finish with 13 points while skipper Paneng Mercado and Jonah Sabete added 12 and 10 points.
Ateneo-Motolite, which already booked a semis seat, slipped at second with a 10-4 card despite Kat Tolentino and Maddie Madayag scoring 15 and 13 points.
Meanwhile, BanKo-Perlas strengthened its bid for the top seeding in the semis with a 12-25, 25-23, 19-25, 26-24, 15-12 triumph over Creamline.
Nicole Tiamzon erupted for 21 points built on 14 kills, six blocks and one ace as the Perlas Spikers improved to 10-3.
Creamline, which is also an early semifinalist, dropped to 9-3. despite the combined 47-point output of Alyssa Valdez and Jema Galanza.
