Every success that we achieve in life, at some point, started with a dream, vision, or a wish, something that isn’t really there (yet), something that we hoped to grasp right in the palm of our hands.
Both the successful and the ordinary people who have yet to turn their aspirations into reality share one thing in common: The dream.
But we also know that not everyone who dreams gets a chance at turning that dream into reality. What then stands in the way of triumph? Could it be the circumstance? The opportunities?
Regardless of the factors that bring about the success or the failure of that dream, the constant factor that has a say in the outcome is always you, the dreamer.
Here are three things you need to do to turn your dreams into reality:
Dream On
Now I don’t mean for this to sound sarcastic like how it’s always being conveyed. What I mean when I say “dream on” is to continue dreaming, to know your dream, schedule a time to revisit it if you must.
It is very important to know your dream very well. What is it really that you want to happen? How do you see this dream of yours fulfilled?
Sometimes, a dream can be so pleasant but once we wake up, it also becomes forgettable, doesn’t it? Have you ever had a very gratifying dream only to find yourself forgetting it upon waking up? I have.
This is why, knowing the dream is very crucial. We need to be very familiar about the dream, so familiar that even if the characters are changed or replaced, we know we’re still in that same dream.
Talk about your dream
Everytime I dream about something delightful, I always can’t wait to tell my wife about it. Sometimes, the dream is too silly that both my wife and I end up getting a good laugh!
It is good to share our dreams to our loved ones. Doing so will help us appreciate the dream more and gauge our loved one’s viewpoint about the dream.
And while the dream is birthed in the heart, people’s ideas about the dream can be very helpful once we decide to turn that dream into reality. Now I am not just talking about anybody here, when I say “people,” I mean those that matter to us, family, loved ones, trusted friends.
Learning to talk about our dreams to these people will help us get a different perspective. Is the dream achievable? Do I have the means to turn this dream into reality? Will I have the realistic timeframe for this dream to be realized? Our trusted circle can help shed a light to these questions.
Wake up
Of course, a dream remains a dream unless we decide to wake up and work our way to make that dream a reality, right? So yes, the third thing we need to do is to wake up!
One of the questions in my book, “Secrets of the Rich and Successful” about turning dreams into reality is, “How are you going to fulfill that dream?”
To be able to answer the “how,” we need action. The answer to a question that begins with how is always an action word. The case is similar to making our dream into a reality. We need to act and the ultimate first step to taking action is waking up.
Wake up and go to work so you can earn that money you need to jumpstart a business, wake up and translate those ideas into words, write a book, wake up, and hit the gym to achieve that healthy lifestyle. Whatever dream it is that you have, wake up and look for ways to inspire yourself. No action is expected when one is asleep so, wake up!
Wanting to become rich and successful always starts as a dream. For some it remains a dream but for others who are brave enough to dream on, talk about their dream and wake up to fulfill that dream, they end up enjoying that dream for real!
THINK. REFLECT. APPLY.
Why is it important to know your dream really well if you are to turn that dream into a reality? In what ways can you motivate and inspire yourself to make that dream a reality? Are you dreaming of starting your own business?
