THE top investigating unit of the Philippine National Police (PNP) has a new director following a reshuffle that was triggered by the retirement of the head of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG).
Chief Supt. Amador Corpus will replace his mistah, Director Roel Obusan who reached the mandatory retirement age of 56 yesterday, as the head of the CIDG, the top investigating unit of the PNP.
Both Corpus and Obusan are members of the Philippine Military Academy (PMA) Class 1986 wherein the current PNP chief, Director General Oscar Albayalde, is also a member.
The designation of Corpus to the CIDG means holding the responsibility of hunting down suspected drug lord Peter Lim whom the police failed to account since the arrest warrant against him in connection with illegal drugs was issued more than three months ago.
The CIDG was also tasked by the PNP leadership to secure Ilocos Norte Rep. Imelda Marcos once the arrest warrant against her is issued in connection with the multi-million dollar graft charges.
Corpus has vacated the top post in Central Luzon. He was replaced by Chief Supt. Jose Napoleon Coronel, a member of the PMA Class 1987.
Aside from the two senior officials, three more officers were also given new post.
Chief Supt. Dennis Basngi will assume the post vacated by Coronel at the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO). He used to be assigned to the PNP’s elite Special Action Force.
Senior Supt. Manuel Abu, on the other hand, will be assigned to the PNP’s elite Special Action Force while Senior Supt. Adolfo Samala Jr. was designated to be Abu’s replacement at the Directorate for Human Resource Doctrine Office. (Aaron Recuenco)
