Two alleged drug personalities, one of them a village watchman, were killed in a brief encounter with police operatives inside a cemetery in Pasay City Tuesday night.
Police said the suspects — Feliciano Millos, a village watchman of Barangay 148, Zone 16, Pasay City; and Virgilio Villablanca Jr., a resident of Barangay Bagong Silang, Poblacion, Camarines Sur — died on the spot.
Based on the report submitted to Pasay City Police Chief Senior Supt. Noel Flores, the shooting incident occurred at around 8:35 p.m. inside a shanty at Sgt. Mariano Public Cemetery, Barangay 148, Pasay City.
Prior to the shootout, members of the Tactical Motorcycle Riding Unit (TMRU) were getting ready for deployment along Aurora Boulevard corner Carlos Revilla St. when a concerned citizen appeared and informed them of an ongoing drug trade inside the cemetery involving Millos.
Police operatives went to the area but were welcomed by sudden burst of gunfire which hit one of the members of the TMRU who was fortunately wearing a bulletproof vest. Two TMRU members retaliated, killing the suspects.
Scene of the Crime Operatives (SOCO) and members of the Station Investigation and Detective Management Branch (SIDMB) led by Chief Inspector Wilfredo Sangel arrived at the crime scene and recovered several firearms and ammunition including a .22-caliber revolver, a .45-caliber pistol and a caliber .9mm,.
They also recovered three sachets with undetermined amount of suspected shabu as well as pieces of drug paraphernalia.
Village executive officer Gregorio Valdez Jr. of Barangay 148 confirmed that Millos was involved in the proliferation of illegal drugs in the area, particularly inside Sgt. Mariano Public Cemetery. (Dhel Nazario)
