NEW YORK CITY – Barely 24 hours after acting like a choirboy, AdrienBroner was back to his old ways.
During Monday’s press conference at the Gotham Hall, Broner dissed World Boxing Association welterweight king Manny Pacquiao like he was taunting a skinny dweeb, boasting that he will send him to dreamland on Jan. 19 at the MGM Grand n Las Vegas.
“I talk trash, I play but I know on January 19 I have to be on top of my game. This is his (Pacquiao) breakout fight to be on the A-side. I know he isn’t trying to look bad. But I’m here to knock him out,” saidBroner, stressing that the Filipino legend isn’t invincible.
“I’m not worried about what Manny does. He has to worry about what I’m doing. I have three losses and he has eight. But he has been knocked out three times so we know he can go to sleep.”
Pacquiao said Broner, a four-division titleholder, “is not the type to underestimate” as he makes the first defense of the WBA 147-lb crown he won last July.
“Adrien Broner, you don’t underestimate him because he is fast and he has power and a very good boxer,” said Pacquiao, who refused to be drawn in a war of words.
Broner, who was respectful during the promotional shoot with Pacquiao on Sunday in Long Island, continued with his expletive-laden remarks.
