DAYS after the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) expressed its disappointment over television series “Ang Probinsyano,” issues were ironed out between agency officials and the show’s producers following a dialogue on Wednesday.
Officials of the DILG led by Secretary Eduardo Año met with producers from the ABS-CBN’s “Ang Probinsyano” including show lead actor Coco Martin in Camp Crame where they resolved issues related to the program.
Both the DILG and its attached agency, the Philippine National Police (PNP) recently lashed out at the currently storyline of the show which portrays the chief of the national police as a scalawag while the protagonist policeman Cardo Dalisay, played by Martin, joined the rebel group Vendetta.
The DILG also said they are considering legal actions against the show for improperly using PNP uniforms that puts the entire police organization in a bad light.
In a joint statement issued by the DILG and ABS-CBN on Thursday, it said that their recent meeting resulted in a “fruitful dialogue” wherein both parties were thankful for the chance to express their views directly to each other.
The PNP also stated the importance of the support and respect of the people to its organization while recognizing ABS-CBN’s freedom to create and convey the story of the program.
For its part, ABS-CBN assured the DILG that the program will continue to portray Cardo Dalisay as a police officer with integrity, who is dedicated to serve and protect the people.
The DILG and the PNP also assured the network that they will continue to support the show which is giving inspiration and valuable lessons to the viewers.
“The DILG, including its attached agency the Philippine National Police, will continue to support ‘FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano’ as it continues to inspire Filipinos with the valuable lesson that in the end, good will always triumph over evil,” the statement concluded. (ALEXANDRIA DENNISE SAN JUAN)
