A Pasay City Jail visitor was arrested Wednesday afternoon after he attempted to sneak in the facility illegal drugs which he concealed in his underwear.
Supt. Joe Jay Arejola, Pasay City Jail warden, identified the suspect as Jonathan Roxas, 31, a Grab driver and resident of Maginhawa St., Pasay City.
According to police report, Jail Officer 1 Brel Gosimat, during body frisking at around 4:10 p.m., was able to feel something hard tucked inside the pants of Roxas.
Gosimat asked the suspect to bring it out.
Roxas was hesitant at first but later took from his underwear 40 grams of shabu worth P200,000 and a plastic sachet of high-grade marijuana known as “kush” which he intended to bring inside the jail.
Investigation showed that the suspect was supposed to visit a certain Noah Rodriguez and Patrick Roxas, both detained at Dorm 8 for illegal drugs.
Roxas told reporters that he was badly in need of cash and only agreed to bring the illegal drugs in exchange for P10,000.
Police said the illegal drugs were supposed to be sold for double or even triple of its original price inside the jail.
During a follow-up operation, anti-narcotics police confiscated more illegal drugs inside the orange Toyota Vios parked just near the Pasay City Hall which Roxas uses as a Grab driver.
Found inside the car were three heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets of shabu and two small heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets of dried marijuana leaves worth P3,000, and a .9mm pistol.
Police records showed that the suspect was once arrested in 2016 also for illegal drugs but later released on bail.
They further learned that the suspect is a known drug courier.
Supt. Arejola said that they will conduct further investigation to know if the suspect has other cohorts inside the Pasay City Jail.
Roxas is now under the custody of the Pasay City Police. (Dhel Nazario)
