A COUPLE and their 12-year-old son were peppered with bullets by a policeman while they were sleeping inside their house in Quezon City past midnight Friday.
Quezon City Police District (QCPD) investigators are eyeing old grudge as the motive behind the killing of the victims identified as Romeo Ado, Sr. 54, his wife Christine, 50, and their son Romeo Jr..
The suspect, identified as Police Officer 3 Jerry Antonio, who was assigned to Caloocan City Police Station, is now the subject of a police manhunt.
Witnesses told police that they saw the suspect near the house of the victims on Madrigal Street in Sitio San Roque, Barangay Pag-asa, around 12:30 a.m. and was looking for Romeo Sr..
The suspect also instructed the three witnesses to immediately go home, which they obeyed out of fear.
Minutes later, gunshots were heard from the victims’ house, prompting the witnesses to lock their doors and wait for few minutes to check what happened.
When they entered Ado’s house, they saw the victims lying lifeless on the floor with blood oozing from their heads and bodies.
The three-year old grandson of the couple who was left unharmed.
Pieces of spent shells were recovered from the crime scene while a small red pouch containing two heat-sealed sachets of shabu, a disposable lighter and a silver foil was found in the waistline of Christine.
Police said witnesses positively identified Antonio as he was a known policeman and a former resident in their area.
Further investigation showed that the victims filed a complaint against Antonio for a case of grave threat in relation to Republic Act 7610 or the Anti-Child Abuse Law for allegedly pointing a gun at one of their daughters last April.
Antonio voluntarily surrendered and was able to post P80,000 bail for his provisional liberty last November 12.
Quezon City police are coordinating with Caloocan City police to arrest the suspect.
