Department of Interior and Local Government Undersecretary Martin Diño confirmed that his brother-in-law was one of the three people arrested in a buy-bust operation last Nov. 12 in Marikina City, a police official said Friday.
Senior Supt. Roger Quesada, Marikina police chief, said Diño confirmed Friday that Manuel Bautista, 52, is his brother-in-law who was arrested last week for drug-related charges in Barangay Concepcion Dos. “Tinawagan ko si Usec. Diño at sabi niya na bayaw nga niya itong si Bautista,” Quesada said.
Bautista was nabbed together with two other drug suspects identified by the police as Marife Oishi, 42, of Barangay Concepcion Dos, and Rafael Pineda, 43, of Barangay Concepcion Uno, also in Marikina.
Quesada added that Bautista claimed that he was in the scene when the buy-bust was conducted only because he was booked by Oishi since he is a Grab driver.
However, investigation showed that Bautista was often sighted at the house of Oishi, Quesada added.
Insp. Greco Gonzales, Marikina police Station Drug Enforcement Unit chief, said that Bautista was not the target of the operation.
Gonzales added that a certain “Marife,” later identified as Marife Oishi, was the target and Bautista was arrested because he was with Oishi and Pineda when the sting was conducted. (Jhon Casinas)
