TWO people allegedly selling illegal drugs to students online were arrested on Friday in San Juan City.
Police identified the apprehended suspects as Julia Ameera Webb alias “Miray”, 21, of Barangay Corazon de Jesus; and Carlito Perez Jr., 22, senior highschool student, of Barangay Balong Bato, both in San Juan City.
It was learned that Perez had allegedly served as a drug courier of Webb for a long time and they allegedly sold drugs to students in the city using social media such as Facebook and through text messages, Senior Inspector Edwin Malabanan, San Juan City Police Station Drug Enforcement Unit (SDEU) chief, said.
First to be arrested was Perez at around 12:30 p.m. inside the school he was attending.
Senior Supt. Dindo Reyes, San Juan City police chief, said that Perez was arrested after school officials conducted an inspection of bags.
Reyes said that a teacher noticed that Perez was acting suspiciously, prompting them to check his bag where they recovered a brick of suspected dried marijuana leaves.
Meanwhile, Malabanan said that during interrogation, Perez identified Webb as his source of illegal drugs.
With new information at hand, Malaban negotiated with Webb at around 4:30 p.m. for a drug deal and agreed to meet in front of the school of Perez.
Police said Webb was placed under arrest after she handed over the illegal drugs to the undercover cop. Recovered from her were seven sachets of suspected dried marijuana leaves.
Police said Webb admitted she and her boyfriend picked up their supplies of marijuana in Apayao and Kalinga and then distributed them to their couriers.
The suspects will be charged with violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. (Jhon Aldrin Casinas)
