TWO men were arrested before dawn Sunday hours after they stabbed and killed a man who had just attended a birthday party in Navotas City.
Police said the suspects — Ronnie Blanco, 36, of Barangay Bangkulasi, Navotas City; and Alvin Cervantes, 25, of Dulong Street, Navotas City — were apprehended for the death of Samuel Sandagan, 38, a resident of TaƱong, Malabon.
According to a witness identified as Ericson Santos, he and the victim were walking home from a birthday party along Governor Pascual Interior Street in Barangay San Jose, Saturday night when they were cornered by the suspects.
Blanco stabbed Sandagan in the neck. The witness tried to pacify the two, but he was strangled by Cervantes.
The suspects then fled on foot.
Sandagan was rushed to Navotas City Hospital where he was declared on arrival.
Police chief investigator Aldrin Thompson said the suspects were arrested in a follow-up operation at about 12:10 a.m., Sunday
Two kitchen knives were recovered from the suspects.
Thompson said they have yet to determine a motive behind the killing as both suspects denied committing the crime.
The chief investigator said the suspects and the victim were drunk during the incident. (Minka Tiangco)
