The Philippine Azkals secured a place in the semifinals of the AFF Suzuki Cup despite being held to a scoreless draw by Indonesia in their final group stage match Sunday night at the Gelora Bung Karno Stadium in Jakarta.
Chances were begging for the Azkals but were able to settle for a split with the Indonesians to finish second in Group B at eight points, two behind defending two-time champion Thailand.
Thailand shoved the Philippines to the semis after defeating Singapore, 3-0, in the other Group B match at Rajamangala Stadium in Bangkok.
The result put the Azkals in a semifinal date with Vietnam, which topped Group A with 10 points after posting three wins and one draw.
Their two-legged affair will start next weekend at the Panaad Stadium in Bacolod City while the return match is expected to be held in the Vietnamese capital of Hanoi.
Meanwhile, Thailand takes on Group A runner-up Malaysia in the other two-legged semis.
