DO you know someone who enjoys waiting?
I am not talking about waiting for just a couple of minutes or hours. I am talking about seemingly endless periods of waiting, waiting with no idea when it will be over. If you know someone who loves waiting, I’d surely love to be introduced to that person.
Reality is nobody likes to wait. With everything becoming instant nowadays, name it, instant coffee, instant microwavable food, instant messaging, even relationships have become instant!
Gone are the days when people would patiently wait for something or someone. Aristotle said, “Patience is bitter, but its fruit is sweet.” There are only a few people today who look forward to tasting that sweet fruit because for most, they prefer something that will give them prompt results.
Even when it comes to success, most people are not willing to wait for it to come. They aggressively chase it even if it requires doing things that aren’t acceptable.
But I still believe that the fruit of patience is sweet! I’ve tasted it myself. This is why I made sure to mention this in my book, Secrets of the Rich and Successful, because I am one of those who enjoyed that sweet fruit.
My journey to success was never easy but the waiting totally paid off. And so I just want to encourage everyone who’s in the season of waiting today.
Know that…
Waiting doesn’t last FOREVER
For those who are in the season of waiting, I know how it can feel like you’ve waited forever. You’re probably asking yourself: When will the financial breakthrough come? When will the sales increase? When will my business stabilize?
I can’t really give you the answers to your questions, in fact, no one can. But know that waiting will not last forever. And for those who are patient enough to wait, they will ultimately enjoy the fruit of their patience.
I talked about lessons that we all can learn from waiting in my book, Secrets of the Rich and Successful. The book also encourages us to be patient as we wait because when we patiently wait, we learn to appreciate everything that happens in between the waiting and the success.
Waiting allows you to be PRODUCTIVE
Converting negative thoughts into positive ones while in the waiting season can also make the waiting more enjoyable and less torturing. Just think about all the productive things that you can do while you wait.
It will always be a matter of perspective. You can either just sit impatiently or you can choose to be productive and think positive!
Waiting improves your CHARACTER
They say if you want to test the character of a person, make that person wait. How many times have you become grumpy just because someone made you wait? Indeed, waiting reveals our character and it also allows us to make room for improvement.
Not everything that comes out of waiting is negative. Some are able to develop and improve their character while they wait.
Waiting REVEALS the people we can count on
Anything can happen while we are in the season of waiting. Little victories, triumphs, and even trials. So it is safe to say that waiting allows us to identify the people who are willing to wait with us and those who aren’t.
I’d say, it’s a good filtering circumstance. In the end, when success finally wants to reveal itself to us, we would want to share it with people who patiently waited with us, don’t we?
Waiting is a test of FAITH
A lot of shaking can take place during the season of waiting. Will the success ever come? Will I be able to reap the fruits of my labor? Have I given enough? Should I continue or should I stop?
Waiting is a test of faith, especially during these times when we are shaken with questions and doubts. Do you believe you’ll pull it through?
I shared many nuggets of wisdom on waiting in my book, Secrets of the Rich and Successful, hoping that you, the readers, will appreciate your waiting season. And while I emphasized waiting in this blog post, the book points you to a much more important virtue that will help you enjoy your journey to success – patience. I encourage you to get a copy of the book and be inspired as you make your way to success!
THINK. REFLECT. APPLY.
Do you enjoy waiting? Why or why not? What positive results does waiting give and how can these results help you appreciate your future success? If you are going to give an encouragement to a friend who’s in the season of waiting today, what encouragement will it be?
