Manny Pacquiao officially kicked off training camp for Adrien Broner when the Filipino legend got dressed for morning roadwork and then spent some time in the gym just 24 hours after arriving from a whirlwind press US tour.
Last week, Pacquiao went on a coast-to-coast tour of New York and Los Angeles to drumbeat his first defense of the World Boxing Association (WBA) welterweight crown on Jan. 19 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
Pacquiao, who turns 40 on Dec. 17, actually ran for three straight days when he was in Los Angeles, signs that the eight-division champion is determined to make heads turn when he fights for the first time in the US in more than two years.
Last time he fought on American soil, Pacquiao beat Jessie Vargas.
Pacquiao will train in Manila until the second week of December before setting up camp in General Santos City.
On Dec. 22, Pacquiao and his team will fly to the US for the second and most crucial phase of his preparations.
Freddie Roach is rolling out the red carpet for Pacquiao with the first-floor area of the Wild Card Boxing Club to be closed down.
