San Sebastian squandered a two-set lead before it turned back Lyceum, 25-12, 25-21, 17-25, 22-25, 15-9, yesterday to jumpstart its title bid in NCAA women’s volleyball at The Arena in San Juan City.
The Lady Stags displayed their offensive strength particularly in the crunch with Nikka Dalisay erupting for 18 kills to finish with 21 points while Shannai Requierme and skipper Joyce Sta. Rita chipped in 19 and 12 points.
San Sebastian is determined to erase the stigma of last season’s fifth place finish, where it fielded a depleted 8-woman lineup that saw them miss the Final Four for the first time in decades.
Rocelyn Hongria and Alexandra Rafael scored 14 and 11 points for Lyceum, which seeks to improve its ninth place finish from last season.
San Sebastian also made its title campaign felt in the men’s division as the Stags outplayed the Lyceum Pirates, 25-18, 25-19, 14-25, 25-17.
