POLICE are investigating the death of a 37-year-old housemaid whose decomposing body was found inside the house of her employer in Pasig City.
Police said the body of Amelia Firmeza was already in the final stage of decomposition when discovered on Monday night. It was wrapped with bed sheets and foam, which probers said is clear indication of attempt to conceal the crime.
Investigators believed that the victim had been raped as the Eastern Police District –Scene of the Crime Operatives (EPD-SOCO) found semen on her underwear.
“We found dried semen on her underwear and dried blood on her bra. She could have been raped first before she was killed,” a SOCO official said.
Firmeza sustained several stab wounds in the body. Probers said that there were also wounds found on the face and shoulders of the victim.
According to SOCO, the victim had been dead for months because her body has already “skeletonized.”
Firmeza was only wearing underwear and a t-shirt when found at the house of her employer, Rene Muñoz, 47, a widowed businessman, at No. 6. Maria St., Suarez Compound in Barangay Pinagbuhatan, Pasig City, at around 6:30 p.m. Monday.
Police said the body was discovered in the househelp’s quarters by Rene’s daughter Audrey, who arrived from Singapore on Monday night, after she smelled foul odor from the said room.
The victim had worked as househelp of the Munoz family since 2009, police said.
Rene told probers that it was his 21-year-old son, Lance Muñoz, a student, who was responsible for Firmeza’s death.
Lance, meanwhile, is reportedly staying in his friend’s house in Laguna.
Police learned that the victim was last seen alive by their neighbors almost three months ago. The neighbors thought she was no longer working for the Muñoz family.
The elder Muñoz claimed that he went to Cebu in April to manage his business there and returned to Manila on November 14.
Rene said his son left their house before he went to Cebu.
Some witnesses, however, said that they saw the son in the house last Sunday night.
Pasig police said they are eyeing the father and son as “persons of interest” in the housemaid’s death. (Jel Santos)
