BUSY as she is preparing for the upcoming Miss Universe pageant to be held only a few days from now in Dec. 17 in Thailand, Catriona Gray was still able to squeeze enough time to record a song in support of Young Focus International (YFI), an organization dedicated to helping children and poor communities in Tondo.
Obviously, Gray has a soft spot for marginalized youth. She revealed as much when asked about it in an interview.
“Seeing them smile, it just gives me that drive, like this is what I’m here for: To help change their lives,” she said.
Note, the official music video of the song dubbed “We’re In This Together,” has already garnered 50 thousand views on YouTube as of this writing.
The song itself peaked at No. 1 on iTunes Philippines on Sunday.
It is not as if Gray has no musical background.
The former model actually took a music course at Berklee College of Music before becoming a beauty queen.
Meanwhile, reports have it that Gray is now among top favorites to capture the Miss Universe crown.
The 24-year-old is leading the pack on Sportsbet.com.au, a betting site in Australia.
Next were Thailand, Ecuador, South Africa, USA, Peru, Puerto Rico, Russia, Australia, Brazil and Vietnam.
In Pinnacle.com, a licensed online betting site in Curacao and Malta, Gray is No. 1 with a betting odd of 5.490. She is followed by Thailand, USA, Venezuela, Ecuador, South Africa, Puerto Rico, Russia, Peru and Brazil.
In Nicerodds.co.uk, a betting site in the United Kingdom, however, Gray tied with Miss Ukraine for third place. On top of the list is Miss USA followed by Miss Venezuela. (NEIL RAMOS with report from Robert Requintina)
