President Duterte has named Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board Member Aileen Lizada as new Commissioner of the Civil Service Commission.
Lizada was appointed ad interim CSC Commissioner last Nov. 9. She will serve until Feb. 2, 2025 or the unexpired term of her predecessor Robert Martinez.
Also appointed by Duterte was Waldo Carpio as undersecretary at the Department of Agriculture. He is the brother of Mans Carpio, the husband of Davao City Mayor and presidential daughter Sara Duterte-Carpio.
Waldo Carpio’s appointment paper was signed on Nov. 27. He was first named Agriculture Assistant Secretary in September last year.
Duterte named two new Nayong Pilipino board members after sacking all high-ranking officials of the foundation for alleged corruption last August. Alicia Manuel and Caroline Lansang will serve until June 30 next year.
The President named Roy Villa as new member of the board of directors of the Philippine National Railways. He will serve the unexpired term of Noel Patrick Prudente which will end on June 30 next year. Prudente was the Customs official sacked by the President in May this year due to his supposed excessive overseas travels.
Prudente, who was appointed by Duterte in February this year, was one of the four Customs officials summoned by the National Bureau of Investigation about the release of a shipment containing misdeclared and highly dutiable goods.
Other appointees were Carim Panumpang, Interior and Local Government Undersecretary; Allan Gepty, Trade and Industry Assistant Secretary, Ma. Teresita Daza, Philippine Ambassador to Chile with concurrent jurisdiction over Ecuador and Peru; Alexander Bangsoy, member of the board of directors of the Intercontinental Broadcasting Corp. 13; Reynaldo Ola-a, director, National Security Council, and Corinna Frances Cabanilla, Commission on Higher Education director.
