Senior Supt. Rizalito Gapas, Pasig City police chief, identified the victim as PO2 Manuel Melendrez III, 48, a member of CIDG National Capital Region and resident of Barangay Caniogan, Pasig.
Gapas said Pasig police are still conducting investigation to identify the suspects and establish their motives.
“We are still reviewing and asking residents in the area if they have close-circuit television (CCTV) footages. The investigation is ongoing,” Gapas said.
Police said they still have to take the statement of the victim’s wife who witnessed the incident.
Initial investigation showed that at around 11:45 p.m. on Thursday, Melendrez and his wife Shirley arrived at their compound in Barangay Caniogan from Pasig City Market on board a black Starex van.
