MORE ON – The last time, Highspeed focused on best of friends, as listed by the late Billy Balbastro some 30 years ago. This time, here’s a list – more on best of friends – of recent vintage.
Jinggoy Estrada and Bong Revilla – They’ve been through good and bad times, remaining the best of friends to date. Bong and Jinggoy are “reclaiming” their Senate seats next year.
Add Phillip Salvador and the late Rudy Fernandez to the Jinggoy-Bong tandem. Ipe is close to President Duterte from way back, when Digong was Davao City mayor.
Piolo Pascual and BB. Joyce Bernal, who are also business partners, producing quality and box-office films.
Ali Sotto and Tirso and Lyn Cruz – Outside the family circle, Ali was the first to be informed about the death of TJ, the eldest of Tirso and Lyn. Ali knows how devastating it was to lose a son…having experienced it.
Susan Roces and Pempe Rodrigo and Manay Ichu Maceda – Their friendship dates back to the late ‘50s at Sampaguita Pictures, growing closer and stronger by the years.
Pempe, who just lost her 104-year-old mother, Meding, heads the Baliksaya and Samahan, composed of “lumang album” (read senior stars).
Celeste Legaspi and Girlie Rodis – Also business partners, their last being the multi-awarded movie “Larawan.” Next on the pipeline is a feel-good movie, the budget much smaller than “Larawan’s.”
Dingdong Dantes and Marian Rivera – Yes, they are husband and wife. But also the best of friends, making the bond stronger. Same can be said of Ogie Alcasid and Regine Velasquez, Ice Seguerra and Liza Diño, Boy Abunda and Bong Quintana, Carlitos Siguion Reyna and Bibeth Orteza.
Bibeth’s best friends include Sen. Chiz Escudero and the “Eat Bulaga” gang of Vic Sotto, Tito Sen (Senate President Tito Sotto), and Joey de Leon.
Joel Lamangan and Jim Pebanco & Prof. Tony Mabesa.
Willie Revillame and Ai-AI de las Alas. Judy Ann Santos & Gladys Reyes. Lovi Poe & Solenn Heussaff. Luis Manzano & Alex Gonzaga. Jobert Sucaldito & Ahwell Paz. Cristy Fermin & Wendell Alvarez.
