A POLICE officer died Sunday morning after the motorcycle he was riding collided with a bus along 11th avenue corner Boni Serrano Street in Barangay 91, Caloocan City.
Police identified the victim as PO1 Cristian Villanueva, 27, a member of Valenzuela City Police Station Special Reactions Unit (VCPS-SRU) and resident of Roxas, Anda Road, Pangasinan.
The bus driver, Rey Trajada, of Barangay San Vicente, Biñan, Laguna, was arrested and will be charged with reckless imprudence resulting in homicide.
Close circuit television (CCTV) footage showed that at about 10:10 a.m., Villanueva was traversing 11th Avenue and was heading to A. Mabini Street when Trajada’s bus hit the right side of his motorcycle.
Villanueva fell on the pavement and sustain severe injuries. He was rushed to Manila Central University (MCU) Hospital onboard a Caloocan City rescue ambulance but was declared dead-on-arrival at about 11 a.m. (Minka Tiangco)
