TWO alleged gunrunners were killed in a shootout with cops during a buy-bust operation on Dagat-Dagatan Street in Navotas City before dawn Tuesday.
Police identified the slain suspects as alias “Roly” and alias “Cris.”
Members of the Northern Police District Special Operations Unit (NPD-DSOU), Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) and Navotas City Police Station conducted an entrapment against the suspects on C3 Road in Barangay North Bay Boulevard at about 4:15 a.m.
Investigation showed that a poseur-buyer bought a .38-caliber revolver from the alleged gunrunners.
But when the suspects reportedly sensed that they were transacting with a policeman, they drew their firearms and traded shots with the operatives. The duo died on the spot.
Police recovered from the suspects a .45-caliber firearm, two .38-caliber revolvers, four sachets of suspected shabu and five fired cartridge cases.
The bodies of the suspects were brought to Eusebio Funeral Homes for autopsy and identification. (Minka Tiangco)
