CLAD in black jackets, face masks and shades, at least 13 tipsters received Wednesday more than P3 million cash reward from the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) for providing information that resulted in successful anti-illegal drug operations from March to October this year.
PDEA Director General Aaron Aquino and members of the Private Eye Rewards Committee led the distribution of the cash rewards amounting to a total of P3,176,906.55 to the confidential informants at the PDEA national headquarters in Quezon City.
Aquino said that the informants, named through their codenames, had helped them in 19 successful anti-drug operations resulting in confiscation of illegal drugs and arrest of drug suspects.
The tipster who got the highest reward was identified only as “Efren” who received a total of P986,889.22. He provided information that resulted in the seizure of shabu weighing 2,815.50 grams and 13,785.90 grams in separate drug stings in Makati City and Muntinlupa City last March 23.
Aside from Efren, other informants named El Guapo, Garfield, Aser, RK, Cobra, ADA, Spade, Chard, Bungo, Abe, Dang, and Bantay also received their cash rewards.
The granting of rewards and incentives is under PDEA “Operation Private Eye”, a citizen-based information collection program designed to encourage active private citizens to report illegal drug activities in their communities. (Alexandria San Juan)
