The Manila Bulletin Publishing Corp. and its sister companies donated a total of P5 million to the Philippine Red Cross Thursday.
Manila Bulletin donated P1 million while sister companies Manila Hotel, Centro Escolar University, Euromed Laboratories, and Philtrust Bank also donated P1 million each.
“We would like to thank Manila Bulletin Chairman Basilio Yap and President Emilio Yap III, Manila Hotel President Atty. Jose Lina Jr., Euromed Laboratories Philippines Inc. President Georgina Evidente, CEU President Dr. Ma. Christina Padolina, and Philtrust Bank President Dr. Jamie Laya for responding to the call to reach out to the most vulnerable,” Sen. Richard J. Manila Bulletin also handed over the P400,000 proceeds of the “Art for Red,” a fundraising private art sale for the benefit of the humanitarian body.
The senator and PRC chairman recalled the generosity of the late Manila Bulletin Chairman Don Emilio T. Yap, saying he has a big heart.
“Don Emilio T. Yap of the Manila Bulletin is a very kind man. He is the first one to call me when there is calamity. He will then tell me that he will donate money for the poor victims,” Gordon said. (Jel Santos)
