Malacañang on Friday said that there will be no whitewash in the ongoing investigation on the son of Bureau of Corrections chief Nicanor Faeldon.
Faeldon’s son, Nicanor Jr., and three others were arrested for possession of illegal drugs in a raid in Naga City Friday.
Presidential spokesperson Salvador Panelo said that the Philippine National Police has provided them a copy of the spot report detailing the arrest of Faeldon’s son.
Panelo assured that investigation will proceed as part of President Duterte’s war against illegal drugs.
“We assure that there will be no whitewash on the ongoing investigation in adherence with the administration’s firm resolve to curb illegal drugs in the country,” Panelo said.
Faeldon, who was embroiled in a multi-billion peso illegal drug smuggling controversy when he was head of the Bureau of Customs, said he will not use his government position to influence the investigation.
According to the former Marine captain, he will distance himself from the case and even volunteered to take a leave. The Palace commended Faeldon for this gesture.
“The Palace likewise commends BuCor chief Faeldon for taking a principled stand of distancing himself from the investigation, for letting police authorities do the job of probing said incident, and for offering to resign once the allegation is proven true,” Panelo said. (Argyll Cyrus B. Geducos)
