If only she was contented with what she has, Christmas would have not been bleak for this policewoman from the Philippine National Police-Criminal Investigation and Detection Group.
Senior Police Officer May Ann Malcontento appeared to be not contented with what her salary and recently released bonus could afford as she was accused of extorting an expensive Louis Vuitton bag and a P50,000 luck money from a woman earlier arrested for illegal recruitment and estafa. The cases against the victim have been dismissed.
Senior Supt. Romeo Caramat, commander of the PNP anti-scalawag unit Counter-Intelligence Task Force, said Malcontento also demanded a wristwatch from the victim and all were personally delivered to the lady police sergeant late Friday afternoon right in front of Camp Crame in Quezon City.
But unknown to Malcontento, the victim had coordinated with the CITF operatives and the supposed delivery of the alleged extorted items was part of the plan to arrest her.
“Based on the complaint, the suspect would always demand the bag, P50,000, and a wristwatch by calling her through phone. In exchange, the suspect said the victim would no longer be harassed,” said Caramat.
The Louis Vuitton bag being demanded by the suspect, according to Caramat, is worth P34,000.
The dismissal of the case, however, was not enough for Malcontento to threaten the victim from Pasig City. The suspect would threaten the victim that she will be harassed or be subjected to entrapment operation of the CIDG. (Aaron B. Recuenco)
