A police officer was killed in an ambush by two motorcycle-riding gunmen in Quezon City Friday afternoon.
The Quezon City Police District Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit identified the victim as Insp. Romeo Tandas, 49.
Tandas was assigned to the QCPD Tactical Operations Center at the QCPD headquarters in Camp Karingal.
According to investigators, Tandas was on his way home after work onboardĀ his blue Toyota Avanza with conduction sticker UF-5745 driven by his common law wife Marissa Opiniado to Barangay Commonwealth around 5:45 p.m. when the incident happened.
Upon reaching the corner of University Lane in Barangay UP Campus near Commonwealth Ave., two men riding a black motorcycle suddenly appeared on the side of Tandas who was at the front passenger seat.
The back rider pulled a handgun and repeatedly shot Tandas through the vehicle’s windshield, hitting him on the different parts of his body before.
The gunmen fled while Opinionado immediately sought help from police officers and rushed Tandas to the Diliman Hospital where he eventually died from multiple bullet wounds.
