Manila Southwoods moved one round away from completing a sweep of the championship divisions in the 69th Fil-Am Invitational golf team tournament presented by San Miguel Corp. Friday in Baguio City.
The Carmona-based squad padded its lead to 41 points in the Fil-Championship and 51 in the Am-Championship.
A pair of 39s by Japanese Yuto Katsugarawa and Aidric Chan fueled Southwoods’ 149 points at the Camp John Hay Course. Other scorers were Carlo Corpus 36 and Aguri Iwasaki 35.
Going into the final round, Southwoods has 415 points, reducing the contest into a battle for second place between Royal Northwoods and Forest Hills-Puma.
Northwoods collected 138 points from Luigi Paolo Wong (36), Nik Gatmaytan (35), Carlo Villaroman (34) and Raymund Sangil (33) to hike its total to 373, six points ahead of Forest Hills.
Inigo Raymundo led Forest Hills with 36 while Rupert Zaragosa and Jude Eustaquio each carded 35 and Dan Cruz added 30.
Over at the Baguio Country Club, Lanz Uy fired 33 as Southwoods turned in 119 points for a three-day total of 396. Also scoring for the team were Masaichi Otake 31, Sean Ramos 28 and Jeff Jung 27.
Batangas Barakos sat in second spot with 345, 13 points ahead of Philippine Navy.
