An ALLEGED gunrunner was killed by police in a buy-bust operation on Mulawin Street in Barangay Pangulo, Malabon City, Sunday night.
Police identified the slain suspect as Bernard Bautista, 59, a resident of the area.
Joint elements of the Northern Police District (NPD) Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG), the NPD-District Special Operations Unit (DSOU), and the Malabon City Police Station conducted an entrapment against Bautista at about 11 p.m.
According to police report, a poseur-buyer bought an unspecified type of firearm worth P2,000 from Bautista.
The suspect reportedly sensed that he was transacting with a police officer, so he drew his firearm and traded shots with the cops. Bautista died on the spot due to bullet wounds.
Police recovered from crime scene three sachets of suspected shabu, a .38-caliber firearm, a cartridge, a misfired cartridge, and P2,000 marked money.
The suspect’s body was brought to the Northern Police District Crime Laboratory Office for autopsy. (Minka Tiangco)
