TWO alleged gunrunners were killed when they clashed with police during a buy-bust operation Quezon City at 12:15 a.m. Wednesday.
Investigators of the Quezon City Police District said one of the slain suspects was identified only as “Atan” while his companion remained unidentified as of Wednesday. Both suspects were armed with guns and they wore jackets.
Police said the two men were members of a gang in their area and known illegal sellers of guns.
Report showed that operatives of Quezon City Police Station 4 conducted a buy-bust against the suspects on SB Road in Barangay San Bartolome, Novaliches.
During the transaction, the suspects allegedly sensed that they were dealing with a police poseur-buyer, prompting them to pull out their handguns and fire shots at the responding officers.
The suspects were killed during the brief gunfight.
Police recovered from the crime scene two .45-caliber pistols, a .38-caliber Smith and Wesson revolver, a sachet of suspected shabu, and a stolen pink Yamaha Mio motorcycle.
Police said that prior to the incident, the duo stopped victim Joshua Capioso on Marcusin Street in Barangay Gulod Tuesday afternoon and forcibly took his motorbike.
The victim, who also went to the crime scene, positively identified the suspects as those who stole his motorcycle.
Further investigation is ongoing. (Alexandria San Juan)
