A TAXI driver was shot dead by two unidentified men after he allegedly gave them a bad stare on P. Ocampo Street corner Perlita San Andres Bukid, Manila, early Wednesday morning.
Police identified the victim as Juanchito Flores, 45, of Barangay Tambobong Bocaue, Bulacan. He was rushed to Ospital ng Maynila but was declared dead on arrival.
According to witnesses Milca Cruz, 36, and Ceejay Dalusong, 28, they boarded the victim’s taxicab after attending a Christmas party.
While traversing Pablo Ocampo Street near corner Zobel Roxas Street in Sta. Ana, Manila near a traffic light at about 12:50 a.m., two suspects onboard a motorcycle tapped the side window of the taxi which resulted in a heated argument between the taxi driver and the motorbike riders.
The suspects then stopped their motorcycle in front of the taxi and challenged the victim to alight from his cab. When Flores did not respond, one of the suspects fired shots at the victim’s face.
Cruz and Dalusong said they heard the suspects insisting that Flores stared at them angrily.
The gunman was described as about 5’6’’ in height, fair complexioned, wearing a white helmet, a black and red jacket and maong pants. The suspects fled toward South Superhighway after the shooting. (Erma Edera)
