President Duterte on Friday called on Filipinos to be guided by the ideas of compassion, kindness, and reconciliation this Christmas.
In a video message, Duterte noted how Christmas is the time where Filipinos honor and gather to celebrate the nativity of Jesus Christ and share life’s blessings with one another. He also reminded them to contemplate on the narrative of Christ’s birth.
“Once again, it is the time of the year where we honor, gather our families and friends to celebrate the nativity of Jesus, share life’s many blessings, and demonstrate our love and gratitude for each other,” Duterte said in his message aired over PTV-4.
“As we take part in this joyous occasion, may we contemplate on the worth of the lessons that we can learn from the narrative of Christ’s birth,” he added.
The President urged the people to unite and bring peace in the country as the year comes to a close.
“Let the ideas of compassion, kindness, and reconciliation guide as we embrace our countrymen in the spirit of shared humanity,” Duterte said.
“Together, let us bring hope and peace in our nation this Yuletide season as we welcome the coming year with much hope and optimism,” he added.
“I wish everyone a happy and meaningful Christmas,” he ended. (Argyll Cyrus B. Geducos)
