President Duterte on Friday named former Philippine Air Force commanding general Lt. Gen. Galileo Kintanar Jr. as the new administrator of the Philippine Coconut Authority.
In a speech at the PAF change of command ceremony Friday, Duterte named Kintanar as the new PCA chair but a Palace source clarified that the position offered to the former PAF chief was PCA administrator as Agriculture Secretary Manny Piñol is the chairman of the PCA.
Duterte said he trusts that if Kintanar is able to fly a plane, then he will have no trouble in steering the PCA in the right direction.
“All I need, all I require, all I desire, all that I dream of is that people joining me in government, isa, he must be utterly honest, and second, that he is competent. Kaya niya ang trabaho,” he said.
“Palagay ko naman ‘yang eroplano ‘yan laki-laki ng yawa na ‘yan, mahirap ‘yan. Ito, ano laman ng ledger pati journal, all you have to do is just keep an eye, and just at the end of the day, kwentahin mo lang ‘yan, and look at the papers and see to it that the Filipino is protected,” he added.
According to Duterte, he was looking for someone who is clean and trustworthy enough to handle at least P87 billion that is for the farmers.
“I want somebody, kailangan ko ng tao na talagang above the rest of the crowd. Taong malinis, kasi billion ‘yan,” Duterte said.
“‘Wag sana mawala at kung hindi man lang mabigay dun sa mga tao na karapatdapat maghawak sa pera, then we might as well reserve that money for the future generation of farmers,” he added. (Argyll Geducos)
