Malacañang on Friday suspended government work on Dec. 26 to allow State workers to fully celebrate the Christmas and New Year with their loved ones.
Memorandum Circular No. 55, signed by Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea, follows MC No. 54 issued early this week which suspended government work on Jan. 2.
In MC No. 55, work is suspended in government offices throughout the country, including government-owned or -controlled corporations, government financial institutions, state and local universities and colleges, local government units, and other agencies and instrumentalities.
However, agencies whose functions involve the delivery of basic and health services, preparedness and response to disasters and calamities, and or the performance of other vital services shall continue with their operations and render the necessary services.
The suspension of work on that day in other branches of government and in independent commissions or bodies, as well as in private companies and offices, is left to the discretion of their heads or management. (Argyll Cyrus B. Geducos)
