College of St. Benilde posted a 25-20, 18-25, 25-14, 25-18 win over Lyceum yesterday in NCAA women’s volleyball at The Arena in San Juan City.
The Lady Blazers struggled with 31 errors but still pulled off the victory with their sharp serves and strong attacks to clinch their fifth win in six outings.
The victory earned St. Benilde a temporary share of second with San Beda, which is playing at presstime against Letran.
Rachel Austero and Klarisa Abriam spearheaded the Lady Blazers with 14 points apiece while merging for 23 of the team’s 47 attacks even as Marites Pablo chipped in 12 points that include six aces and four blocks.
Lyceum fell to its fifth defeat against two victories despite Alexandra Rafael and Cherilyn Sindayen finishing with 16 and 13 points.
St. Benilde also edged Lyceum in the men’s division, 25-16, 25-19, 25-23, for a share of second with Arellano at 5-1.
Joshua De Sequera and Francis Basilan scored 10 points each for the Blazers, who took advantage of the Pirates’ week serves.
Lyceum slipped to 2-5 with Juvic Colonia posting 12 points.
