President Duterte is scheduled to visit storm-ravaged Camarines Sur today to extend relief assistance
to the families affected by the latest calamity.
Presidential spokesperson Salvador Panelo said the President was saddened by the death and destruction left by the powerful storm and wanted to look into the condition of the calamity victims.
“We’re scheduled to visit tomorrow sa Bicol area, sa Camarines Sur,” Panelo said. “We will check on the stricken areas para malaman natin kung ano pa kailangan gawin,” he added.
Panelo said the President was satisfied with the government’s disaster preparedness and relief in storm-hit areas, citing that agencies did their best to prepare for the tropical cyclone.
But he said the government would still improve the disaster mitigation efforts to minimize casualty and destruction in case of another storm.
“Natural lamang na malungkot ang Presidente sa mga panahon ng kalamidad pero ginawa naman natin lahat para maging handa. But there are things you cannot control. May mga dumadating na panahon na talagang magkakaroon
ng trahedya,” he added.
“We will learn from whatever lesson we have seen. Ganun naman tayo. Kapag medyo tayo nagkamali o meron tayong dapat gawin, gagawin natin,” he added. (Genalyn D. Kabiling)
