SAN JUAN, Batangas – Five people, including two minors, died while nine others were injured when a tricycle and a Honda Civic collided in Barangay Laiya, here, before dawn yesterday.
PO1 Richard King Valenzuela identified the fatalities as Kim Zaigan Gamil, 7; John Eric Gamil, 17; Borito Santos, 44; Reynald Gamil, 20; all tricycle passengers; and John Kelly Villanueva, 23, car driver. They were all declared dead on arrival in a hospital.
The driver of the tricycle, Levy Gamil, 49, and his passengers, Maximo Gamil, 53; Benilda Gamil, 41; and Virgilio Gamil, 50, were injured. They are now recuperating at the Batangas Medical Center.
Also injured were car passengers Christian Delacion, 26; John Michael Rivera, 20; Regie Roncal, 19; James Dimaano, 17; and Hanford Moredo.
Two of the car passengers were confined in the hospital while the rest sustained minor injuries.
Initial investigation showed that the tricycle was traversing the road in Barangay Laiya going to Barangay Hugom when it was hit by the car from the opposite direction.
Police are still conducting investigation 50101to establish the cause of the accident. (Lyka Manalo)
