THREE food stall workers were injured Sunday night when a gas tank of a kitchen exploded at a food park in Pasay City.
Police said the injured victims — Jerry Orpila, 33; Jay Venus delos Santos, 50; and Analiza Sevilla, 37 — sustained second degree burns and are currently recuperating at San Juan De Dios Hospital.
According to Fire Officer 1 Keenan Dublado of Pasay City Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), the incident occurred at around 8:50 p.m. at the kitchen of Food Treat Tayo stall on Roxas Boulevard corner Antipolo St. in Barangay 11, Pasay City.
Investigators said the three victims were conducting food tasting when the blast occurred.
Prior to the incident, one of the victim’s managers detected the gas leak and subsequently warned the three about it. It was then followed by the explosion of the LPG tank. The blast also partially affected two adjacent stalls.
Members of the BFP immediately responded to the incident and closed the area. (Dhel Nazario)
