THE Department of Health (DoH) has advised the public to take extra precaution against flu viruses.
“It is flu season and we urge everybody to take extra care not to get infected,” said Health Undersecretary Rolando Enrique Domingo in a text message.
Domingo urged the public to practice good hygiene for them not to contract diseases.
“Potential complications such as pneumonia can be prevented by proper hygiene,” said the health official.
The DoH has announced that there is no pneumonia outbreak in the country, countering reports circulating on social media.
“As of December 2018, the number of cases are actually less than last year,” said Domingo.
A netizen tagged the DoH on social media with the screenshot message containing “there is a pneumonia outbreak here in the Phils.”
“Avoid going to crowded places first and traveling. This is airborne and very very scary. Early symptoms are cough, colds & fever. Sore throat too,” it added. (ANALOU DE VERA)
