President Duterte is doing his part to save energy and cut costs in Malacañang.
The President recently revealed his efforts to reduce energy consumption while living in his official residence, including turning off lights and appliances when not in use.
“Ako lang rin ang Presidente na umiikot sa compound, nagsasara ng ilaw,” the former Davao City mayor said during a visit to Masbate.
“Kasi nung pagdating ko, susmaryosep ang aircon, kurog ako. Hindi ko – bakit kayo mag-aircon kayo ng gabi? Iyong ano, nakailaw lahat,” he added.
Duterte, known for his simple lifestyle, also tried to downplay the perks of living in Malacañang.
The 73-year-old president, who goes home to Davao City every weekend, said his living room was indeed huge to accommodate official meetings but his bedroom was small and even has a faulty toilet.
“Sa Malacañang ah para ‘yun sa mga – para lang sa mga multo ‘yun,” he said in jest.
Apart from power-saving measures, Duterte also prefers simple food served in Malacañang. (Genalyn
