TWO robbery suspects, who were located through the GPS of a stolen mobile phone, were killed in shootout with policemen eight hours after breaking into an auto parts shop in Quezon City on Monday.
Members of Quezon City Police Station 4 said the unidentified suspects were described to be in their late 20s and early 30s, both wearing long sleeves shirt and bore tattoos on their bodies.
Prior to the incident, members of Novaliches Police Station (PS-4) received a complaint about two armed men who robbed the employees of an auto supply shop on Gen. Luis Street in Barangay Nagkaisang Nayon around 3:20 p.m.
The victims said the two men forcibly took at gunpoint their personal belongings such as mobile phones and undetermined amount of cash of the shop before fleeing on board a motorbike.
Authorities immediately conducted a follow-up operation against the suspects.
During operation, police officers were able to locate the suspects through the GPS installed on one of the stolen phones of the victims.
Upon arriving at a house on Belen Street in Brgy. Gulod, Novaliches, around 11:30 p.m., the cops spotted two men who matched the descriptions given by the complainants.
However, as the police were approaching them, the duo suddenly pulled out their handguns and fired shots at the cops, resulting in a gunfight.
The suspects died on the spot.
The complainants arrived at the scene and positively identified the two slain men as those who robbed them.
Authorities recovered from the crime scene a 9 mm pistol, a .38-caliber revolver, the suspects’ getaway motorcycle, two sachets of shabu, and some drug paraphernalia.
