The low pressure area that was formerly tropical depression “Amang” has dissipated but another LPA has formed near Eastern Samar.
Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration weather specialist Chris Perez said the LPA was estimated at 65 kilometers northeast of Borongan, Eastern Samar Wednesday morning.
The weather disturbance could still bring scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms over Eastern Visayas but is most likely to dissipate within 12 to 24 hours, he said.
Mindanao will also experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers due to localized thunderstorms.
PAGASA advised residents in Eastern Visayas and Mindanao to be alert against possible flash floods during severe thunderstorms.
Meanwhile, Perez said the northeast monsoon or “amihan” will prevail over Luzon and Visayas.
Aurora, Quezon, Batanes, Cagayan, Isabela, Nueva Vizcaya, Quirino, Abra, Benguet, Ifugao, Kalinga, Mountain Province, Apayao, Albay, Sorsogon, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Catanduanes, and Masbate will have cloudy skies with light rains due to the amihan.
Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon and Visayas will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains.
Perez said that due to the surge of amihan, a gale warning remains in effect as sea travel remains risky over the eastern seaboard of Quezon, including Polillo Islands, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Catanduanes, eastern coast of Albay, eastern coastline of Sorsogon, Northern Samar, northern coast of Ilocos Norte, Batanes, Calayan, Babuyan, Cagayan, Isabela, Aurora, and western seaboards of Ilocos Norte and Ilocos Sur.
