Unbeaten La Salle swept its two matches over the weekend to clinch the top seed in the semifinals of the inaugural Philippine Baseball League at the Rizal Memorial Stadium.
The Green Archers defeated the IPPC Nationals, 11-8, on Saturday before needing just seven innings to beat the University of the Philippines Fighting Maroons, 18-8, the following day to move a win shy of ending the eliminations with a clean slate.
La Salle can complete a six-game sweep of the tournament backed by the Philippine Amateur Baseball Association with a victory over archrival Ateneo on Saturday.
Meanwhile, Ateneo downed University of Santo Tomas, 13-12, to snap a two-game skid and move in a tie for second with IPPC at 3-2.
