A DRUG suspect died after he was mauled by three fellow detainees inside the custodial facility of the Parañaque City Police Station on Sunday.
Police identified the victim as Benjie Baltazar, 23, who was arrested for drug-related charges.
The suspects were identified as Richard Baylon, 39, detained for violation of Republic Act 7610 (anti-child abuse law); Andrew Barba, 40, arrested for possession of bladed weapon; and Belmar Borja, 25, arrested for illegal drug case.
Police said the mauling occurred twice at around 12:30 p.m. and 9 p.m. inside the detention cell of the Parañaque City Police Station in Barangay San Dionisio, Parañaque City.
It was learned that the three suspects beat up Baltazar but were pacified by one of the detainees inside the cell.
However, at around 9 p.m., the suspects mauled the victim again until he vomited blood and fell unconscious.
The incident was reported to the duty jailer who rushed the victim to Ospital ng Parañaque were he was declared dead on arrival. (Dhel Nazario)
