The bicameral Commission on Appointments confirmed Wednesday the appointment of Gen. Benjamin R. Madrigal Jr. as chief of staff of the Armed Forces of the Philippines.
The CA, during its plenary session presided over by Senate President Vicente C. Sotto III, concurrent CA chairman, also confirmed the appointments of two other ranking AFP officers.
They are Lt. Gen. Noel S. Clement and Brig. Gen. Virgilio B. Bartolome.
Rep. Seth Frederick P. Jalosjos, chairman of the CA national defense committee, said the three professional soldiers – Madrigal, Clement, and Bartolome – also seek peace.
Madrigal, a native of Los Banos, Laguna and has been in the government service for 37 years, is the 51st AFP chief of staff. He replaced Gen. Carlito Galvez, now the presidential peace adviser. (Mario B. Casayuran)
